When & Where
The Aguilas Carnaval happens february, though due to the COVID pandemic postponing it in 2022; the Carnaval I went to, which these photos are from, happened in August. Normally lasting around 5 hours. Aguilas is a small costal city (year round pop. of ~30k) in the province of Murcia, it borders the province of Almeria.
After just watching the event (not even dancing! those poor dancers) for several hours its clear WHY it happens in February. We watched from towards the beginning of the parade root. It started at 9pm and the final float/dance group passed us at around 01:00. Even at this hour in August it was close to 30 celcius.
